Renowned Urologist specializing in Urolithiasis and Minimally Invasive Surgery
Dr. Juan Manuel López Martínez is a highly regarded urologist based in Barcelona, with clinical expertise in the medical and surgical management of urolithiasis. He currently practices at Hospital Clínic – University of Barcelona, where he collaborates with the Renal Transplant Unit, and serves as Assistant Teacher in the Department of Urology at the University of Barcelona since 2017.
He graduated in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid and completed his residency in Urology at Fundació Puigvert, where he was awarded the Best Communication Prize by the Societat Catalana d’Urologia in his final year. He went on to complete a fellowship in Endourology and Urolithiasis at Fundació Puigvert (2014–2015), and later trained under Dr. Guohua Zeng at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University (China) in 2018, where he refined his skills in miniaturized PCNL.

He is a member of the Guidelines Board on Miniaturized PCNL of the International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU) and a proponent of Super-Mini PCNL (SMP), prioritizing low renal pelvic pressure, efficient stone clearance, and enhanced postoperative recovery.
